The Shepparton Western Horse Club recently hosted a training camp for young riders at the beginner level with a focus on honing skills.
Club president Bree Warren said about 15 riders took part in the camp at Caniambo Recreation Reserve.
She said many of the riders owned horses but still benefited from tuning up their basic skills.
“A lot of it is working on general improvements; these are the skills all riders must have including horsemanship and safety,” she said.
“It was a fantastic couple of days for our club and we really appreciate the instructors volunteering their time.
“It's important we can encourage youth into the industry, as it's a dying discipline.”
