Rob Harris gets top job

Former Shepparton News sports editor Rob Harris has taken up a key role at the Nine media group after being appointed National Affairs Editor last month.

Mr Harris will oversee political coverage for The Age and the Sydney Morning Herald from his Canberra office.

Originally from Traralgon, Mr Harris joined The News as a cadet journalist in 1999, leaving in 2005 to join The Border Mail as a sports journalist and sub-editor.

In 2006, Mr Harris returned to The News as sports editor for two years.

His subsequent media career has involved stints at the ABC, The Border Mail, The Weekly Times and more recently as national political reporter for the Herald Sun.
