Works on the final section of the shared path around Victoria Park Lake in Shepparton began yesterday.
Completed in two stages, the asphalt path will be constructed this month and lighting will follow next month.
The new section of the path will pass behind the sheds located at the south-western corner of the lake. However, the path will remain in front until lighting is installed on the new path.
Greater Shepparton City Council infrastructure director Phil Hoare said the new path would improve accessibility and safety for users of the path and boat ramp.
‘‘We are continuing to improve safety and accessibility across Greater Shepparton and this is another step in the right direction,’’ Mr Hoare said.
‘‘It’s great to see so many people using the path around the lake, and this work will complete the path loop and help people avoid walking through the parking area.’’
Landscaping will also be done once the construction works are completed.
The project is set for completion by the end of next month.
