Shepparton’s Maude St, between Vaughan St and Ashenden St, will be closed to traffic from tomorrow as works on the Maude St bus interchange, streetscape works and plaza redevelopment start.
The street section will be closed until October and pedestrian access will also be limited.
The road closures allow for the construction of a new eight-bay bus interchange, which will operate on both sides of Maude St.
Greater Shepparton City Council infrastructure director Phil Hoare said the temporary closure would allow the contractor to complete the upgrade works in the most efficient way and minimise construction time.
Mr Hoare said pedestrian access to residences and businesses in the area would be maintained.
He said on-street parking bays within the section were being removed to make way for the bus parking bays, however additional parking bays would be created on Maude St, north of Vaughan St, in the next stage of the project.
