Altered train timetables for regional rail network

By Shepparton News

Trains across the regional rail network are expected to run to altered timetables over the next three days as hot weather returns to most parts of Victoria.
Services on the Bendigo, Swan Hill, Echuca, Seymour and Shepparton lines corridors will run to extreme heat timetables today, due to temperatures exceeding 36 degrees.
Temporary track speed restrictions will be implemented on these lines between 12pm and 8pm, meaning longer journey times of up to 20 minutes. Some services may also be replaced with coaches.
To provide greater certainty for passengers, V/Line is implementing temporary hot weather timetables this summer on days where the temperature is predicted to exceed 36 degrees.
V/Line trains slow down during extreme heat as a safety precaution. The operator also takes an extra cautious approach with looking after its track and signalling equipment in extreme weather.
Extreme heat timetables will apply to services on the Albury, Shepparton and Seymour lines on the weekend.
Extreme heat timetables are also predicted to apply to all regional lines on Monday, except for Bendigo, Swan Hill and Echuca services which are being replaced with coaches due to planned works. Further information on Tuesday and Wednesday services will be provided closer to the day.
Service change notifications will be provided to passengers via the V/Line website, the V/Line App, or via Twitter.
Alternatively, passengers can check with their local station staff, conductor or by calling 1800 800 007 for more information.
