Properties raided in search for missing man Umit Bolat

By Shepparton News

Police have swooped on a number of properties in the Shepparton area in their search for missing man Umit Bolat.

Investigators have deemed the disappearance of the 45-year-old as suspicious.

He was last seen alive in Shepparton late on August 12 and his yellow ute was found two days later in a local supermarket car park with the keys still in the ignition.

"Police are currently executing search warrants in Shepparton and outlying areas as part of an ongoing investigation," Victoria Police said in a statement on Wednesday.

"As this investigation is ongoing, further details will be provided when it is appropriate to do so."

Police launched a public appeal to find the man earlier this month.

Detectives believe someone else was responsible for leaving his distinctive yellow Holden Commodore ute in the supermarket car park early on August 14.

Mr Bolat was a long-term resident in the Shepparton and Tatura area, however he had no fixed place of address at the time of his disappearance and was known to sleep in his ute.

His sister reported him missing on August 21 after he missed several appointments.
