Facelift on the way for Euroa

By Tara Whitsed

In the next decade, Euroa’s look and function is set for an overhaul.

The Strathbogie Shire Council will develop a draft Euroa Township Plan, using community feedback on how to improve the town’s aesthetic and functionality.

The draft plan is part of the development of the an overall strategy, which will provide a long-term vision and action plan for Euroa in the next 10 years.

Strathbogie Shire Council investment and planning manager Emma Kubeil said the entire process was initiated with an issues and opportunities report which identified opportunities for residential and commercial development.

‘‘(It) looks at a variety of things such as car parking, the upcoming inland rail freight project and other factors that will contribute to the future look and function of the Euroa township,’’ she said.

‘‘This report was informed by a variety of previous community consultation, including through council’s ‘Lets Talk We’re Listening’ campaign and consultation undertaken by the Euroa Community Action Group.’’

Ms Kubeil said they wanted feedback on the issues and opportunities report as well as general feedback on what locals would like to see happen in Euroa, particularly in the main street.

‘‘It could be things like seating, pedestrian and traffic flow or ways to better connect our railway station with the main street,’’ she said.

‘‘All feedback and ideas we receive will be collected and fed into our draft Euroa Township Plan for Council consideration.’’

The report and surveys are available from council offices, 109A Binney St, Euroa; Euroa hub, 50 Binney St, Euroa; Euroa Health, 36 Kennedy St, Euroa; Euroa Library, 62 Binney St, Euroa, or on the council’s website.
