Police are appealing for witnesses following a car fire in Mooroopna last night.
Three CFA units from Shepparton and Mooroopna were called to the incident at MacIsaac Rd around 6pm last night.
When they arrived the car, which was sitting on its roof, was fully engulfed in flames.
CFA District 22 Duty Officer Charlie Cleary said it took them five minutes to bring the fire under control.
The incident is the fifth car fire in Shepparton and Mooroopna over the past two weeks.
Detective Senior Constable Jason Brown said it wasn’t known at this stage whether the car fires were linked.
“We haven’t had any cars stolen in the area of a similar description,” he said.
“The car was completely destroyed and we are appealing for witnesses.”
Sen Const Brown said it is believed the car had been sitting at the location for up to a week on its roof before it was burnt.
The incident is being treated as suspicious.
Anyone who saw anything or has any information about the fire is urged to contact the Shepparton Police Station on 5820 5711. Alternatively, a confidential report can be made via Crime Stoppers.
