MRC gets set for its CCTV

By Riverine Herald

MURRAY River Council adopted its CCTV Policy and Code of Practice at its recent ordinary council meeting.

MRC mayor Chris Bilkey said council required a CCTV policy to ensure operation of all CCTVs across the council footprint meets requirements.

“CCTV is a necessary step to ensure our communities continue to remain safe and secure destinations with low levels of crime and anti-social behaviour,’’ he said. “The policy has been developed to help manage the legislative and logistical requirements of operating a CCTV program across the council area.’’

Under the policy, cameras would be installed at priority locations identified through the level of pedestrian traffic in certain areas and whether there has been a history of crime and where requests have been made for camera installation.

Council-operated cameras are currently installed at the Moama Branch Office, Moama Landfill, Mathoura Skatepark, Moama works depot and Moama CBD.
