Shepparton Motor Museum and Collectibles is set to be renamed the Museum of Vehicle Evolution and become the catalyst for Shepparton’s major new tourist precinct at Emerald Bank.
Highlighting the Goulburn Valley’s rich trucking, transport and agricultural heritage, the multipurpose events venue has already received $2.5million in funding under the Federal Government Regional Jobs and Investment Packages and a conditional $1.25million from Greater Shepparton City Council.
Project spokesperson Peter Hill said the project required a restructure of the Shepparton Motor Museum and Collectibles.
‘‘MOVE will embrace the existing and successful Shepparton Motor Museum and Collectibles which also houses the Furphy Museum, as well as the new truck and transport museum,’’ Mr Hill said.
MOVE is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified people to join the skills-based board, which will oversee fundraising, construction and operation of the new museum complex.
‘‘It will be a rewarding and fruitful journey and I encourage people from the legal and accounting fraternity to get involved,’’ he said.
The overall space will include 7000sqm of indoor and 3000sqm of outdoor exhibition space where visitors to the new complex will be engaged through interactive multimedia and fixed displays, along with curated exhibitions.
Expressions of interest, including professional experience, should be marked ‘attention Natalie Leed’ and emailed to email@example.com
