Some morning commuters travelling along Shepparton’s key north-south arterial were delayed yesterday when a rail crossing closed.
The Wyndham St rail crossing at Victoria Park Lake was blocked for about 15 minutes, causing traffic to back up in both directions.
The boom gates were lowered, while police were on scene.
North-bound traffic was diverted down Macintosh and Hassett Sts, but south-bound traffic was at a standstill with no alternative but to wait.
The boom gates were raised about 10.20am, allowing traffic to again flow.
