Water price list released

By Cobram Courier

Goulburn-Murray Water has released its 2018-19 price list as part of its annual price review.

The update is part of a review which takes place every year, regulated by the Essential Services Commission and on behalf of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

The review of services, standards, operating and asset costs and pricing takes place every four years, with the next period starting in July 2020.

‘‘In the current operating environment, with a large ageing asset base and related maintenance costs, the fact that across all services and related fees our average prices are generally at or below inflation is positive for our customers,’’ managing director Pat Lennon said.

G-MW operates within a revenue cap for each four-year period, which drives the business to find cost reductions and efficiencies, which make sure downward pressure is applied to keep prices as low as possible.

‘‘It’s important to note there’s no profit margin,’’ Mr Lennon said.

‘‘The prices are based on real costs for services.

‘‘We’ve been steadily reducing our operating costs over time and this remains high on our priority list.’’
