The autumn firewood collection period closes across Victoria on Saturday.
Once the season closes it will be illegal to collect firewood on public land until spring.
Firewood collection is only permitted during designated times of the year and from designated firewood collection areas.
Firewood collected can only be for personal use and cannot be sold.
The spring firewood collection period opens September 1, depending on conditions.
On-the-spot fines range from $622 and, for offences which go to court, a person may be liable for fines up to $7773, one year imprisonment or both.
