Be prepared

February 09, 2018

The CFA is running two information sessions to help people be prepared this fire season.

The Country Fire Authority urges the public to stay vigilant this month, with February historically a busier month for emergency services dealing with blazes.

With warmer weather arriving in time for the weekend, it is a timely reminder for people to make sure they would know what to do if a fire was in their neighbourhood.

‘‘Having a plan, good property preparation and knowing what to do is key to giving you and your home the best chance of survival,’’ CFA District 22 operations officer Travis Harris said.

‘‘Victoria is one the most fire-prone areas in the world, so anyone could be impacted by fire at some time; people need to remember fires can occur anywhere, at any time.’’

CFA has planned two information sessions for the public to learn more about what to do before and during a fire.

Two street corner information sessions will occur, with the first on Thursday, February 22, at 7pm in Kingfisher Dve Reserve.

The second is on Tuesday, February 27, at 7pm in Gordon Dve, Kialla Lakes.

CFA members will also attend with giveaways for children.
