Finley committee calls for more help at pool

By Southern Riverina News

The Finley War Memorial Pool Committee is actively recruiting committee volunteers ahead of its July annual general meeting to ensure there is enough interest to form a management committee.

With a number of committee members being forced to stand down, it leaves only three existing members.

Without a full committee, management of the facility could be jeopardised.

The local pool is owned and operated by the Berrigan Shire, but pool committee president Linda Turley said it is run by a ‘‘small but dedicated’’ group of volunteers.

‘‘The pool is very important to the town over the hot summer months and needs the support of volunteers and the community to ensure its survival,’’ Mrs Turley said.

‘‘Some of our committee have stepped back because of family and work commitments and it has left us with only three people at meetings. We need more people to help us make important decisions.

‘‘All we need is a few people to help out on the first Tuesday of the month, just for a couple of hours.

‘‘It isn’t a physically demanding job, but it will involve helping us make decisions at our meetings.

‘‘The duration of the meetings are once a month and go for about an hour.

‘‘Our AGM is in late July, so we’re putting the word out for anyone who can help to please contact us.’’

The AGM will be held July 31 at the Finley RS Club from 7.30pm.

Anyone interested in joining the committee is welcome to attend the next meeting on July 3.
