Sensational curries

By Benalla Ensign

The Benalla Curry House on Nunn St has become a favourite of many in Benalla since reopening in the last few months.

Manager Mandeep Singh has been running restaurants for more than three years and said the secret to a happy customer was making the dish exactly to their requirements.

‘‘Our chef Renu is very good and can make a dish as mild or as spicy as the customer wants,’’ Mandeep said.

‘‘We serve traditional north Indian food and have different options to please all our customers.’’

One of their most popular dishes is the mixed vegetable curry and Mandeep said their vegetarian customers had given great feedback.

‘‘We also cater to meat-eaters and sell a lot of the butter chicken as people like the milder flavour, but again we can make that one spicy if the customer asks us to,’’ Mandeep said.

‘‘For people who like spicy food we recommend the lamb vindaloo or the lamb rogan josh. But we have a varied menu and offer something for everyone.’’

The Benalla Curry House has a special offer — for $16 you can have any curry, rice and a drink.

The Benalla Curry House is open 4.30pm to 8.30pm Tuesday to Sunday and closed on Monday.
