FIRE DAMAGE:

Southern Riverina farmers in the Berrigan area are recovering from a large grass fire which ripped through their properties recently.

A SAUCY TALE:

Tomatoes from northern Victoria and the Southern Riverina will be used for marinara sauce in all Australian Subway restaurants. Subway has announced a deal with Kagome Australia to transition away from tomatoes grown in the United States.

MG HEADS GO:

Three senior Murray Goulburn Co-operative leaders, including chief executive officer Ari Mervis, will be leaving the company in the next few weeks as it clears the way for its take-over by Canadian dairy processor Saputo.

SILO PROGRESS:

The Devenish silo art project is expected to be completed this week as residents prepare for a launch with a community barbecue on Tuesday, April 24.

FARMER REMEMBERED:

Katandra dairy farmer Kevin Jordan died on April 8 from a short illness. Mr Jordan was one of the Goulburn Valley’s most progressive farmers. He died at the age of 85.

PRICE CRASH ANNIVERSARY:

Thursday will mark two years since milk processor Murray Goulburn Co-operative announced it would retrospectively slash its milk price. The move sent shockwaves through the industry, with Fonterra following suit just eight days later, leaving many dairy farmers struggling.
