Shepparton Brass and Wind is travelling to Ballarat to compete for the first time in the State Band Championships in the D-grade concert band division this weekend.
Run by the Victorian Bands League, this competition has been active for more than 125 years.
The band will be playing on the stage at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Ballarat on Saturday morning.
They are performing the popular march Under The Double Eagle, the concert piece Legend of the Sword and a popular Mancini tune It Had Better Be Tonight.
The band has 30 members, aged from 14 years up to 80 and older, led by conductor Lachlan Gallacher.
The band sees this competition as excellent preparation for their upcoming annual concert at Eastbank in November.
