Kialla Lakes Drive is expected to reopen to motorist with in the next 2 hours.
Police are continuing their investigation after a car crashed into a tree trapping the driver near the intersection of Archer St just before 3am this morning.
A driver was trapped for more than 30 minutes after the car he was driving hit a tree at the intersection of Kialla Lakes Drive and Gordon Drive just before 3am this morning.
The car was traveling East along Kialla Lakes Drive towards Archer St when it ran off the road and hit a tree just past the Gordon Drive roundabout.
Shepparton Search and Rescue Squad members cut the driver from the car before he was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Police, CFA and paramedics also attended the scene.
Police were unable to comment early this morning due to the nature of the incident.
Senior police members will attend the scene to help with investigations.
Police are unsure at this stage how long Kialla Lakes Drive will be closed for.
