Love was in the air at Goulburn Valley Grammar School on Valentine’s Day.
The school’s Year 12 students held their first annual fundraising event on Tuesday which included a cake stall, love-boat rides, marriage ceremonies, secret admirer letters and rose deliveries.
Leavers fund prefects Adam Sizer and Georgina Hacon were the organisers behind the fundraiser and said everyone got involved and enjoyed the day.
‘‘Everybody had a lot of fun. Everybody had smiles on their faces all day,’’ Adam said.
‘‘All our year level got involved in something and even the kids who didn’t put their name down to do a certain activity were helping others and running around doing little jobs and things,’’ Georgina said.
The students raised more than $1200 towards their annual fundraising total, which will be split at the end of the year between a charity donation and purchasing a present for the school.
‘‘I think the highlight of my day was probably the end of the day when we got the email giving us the result. I was nearly in tears. I was so proud of everyone,’’ Georgina said.
‘‘We were expecting much less than that. It’s phenomenal for one year level and a ripper way to start the year.’’
