Police remained out the front of the Charles St property in Mooroopna yesterday.

A man was flown to a hospital in Melbourne after emergency services responded to a fire at a house in Charles St, Mooroopna on Monday night.

A Mooroopna man, 26, suffered serious burns and was flown to the Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition, an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.

A CFA spokeswoman said units were called to the house at 8.55pm Monday and brought the fire under control at 9.05pm.

Police said a minor amount of damage occurred to the property and the fire was not being treated as suspicious.

‘‘Police are currently making inquiries in relation to the circumstance surrounding the incident,’’ Shepparton police Detective Senior Constable Jeff Wren said.

‘‘We are talking to a number of people who are assisting us with our inquiries.’’

Yesterday an Alfred Hospital spokesperson said the man remained in hospital in a critical condition.
