Shepparton siblings Adam, 8, and Zara, 5, Aidil made friends with Batman.

Mooroopna North's William Hotchkiss, 5, made sure he dressed up to meet Batman.

Brothers Thomas, 3, and Connor Dunstone, 5, with sidekick superhero Emma Kennedy.

Layla Sutcliffe, 7, got to meet Batman and his super hero sidekick Emma Kennedy.

Shepparton Library coordinator Emma Kennedy played the role of superhero sidekick pictured with Mooroopna's Lila Demay, 2.

A visit to the Shepparton Library saw Batman swamped by fans on his day of days — September 26.

Shepparton Library coordinator Emma Kennedy said the day was a success with several children reeling from the excitement.

‘‘It was really funny. It was like Santa had shown up,’’ she said.

‘‘He rode in on his Harley motorbike and got mobbed inside the front door.’’

This was the first time Batman had celebrated his special day at the library but according to Ms Kennedy it won’t be the last. ‘‘It’ll be something we do every year now I think,’’ she said.

The purpose of Batman Day was to celebrate the anniversary of the character’s first ever appearance, which was in Detective Comics #27 in May, 1939.
