Caught in act

A man was arrested after he allegedly attempted to steal a Mazda utility from a property off the Goulburn Valley Hwy, near Arcadia, on Saturday afternoon.

A person disturbed the man during his attempt to steal and abandoned the vehicle.

He then walked away from the property on to the Goulburn Valley Hwy, where police found him and took him to Shepparton Police Station.

A man, 41, has been remanded to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court today.

Car thief chased

Shepparton police broke into a foot chase in Stewart St after they allegedly caught a thief breaking into cars at 1am on Saturday.

The offender forced his way into several vehicles in a car park and stole numerous items before a police patrol car spotted him.

The officers gave a short foot chase and the man was apprehended and arrested.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court today.

Tyre catches fire

A truck’s tyre burst into flames on the Peter Ross Edwards Causeway at 5.20pm on Saturday.

Country Fire Authority trucks responded to the incident quickly and stopped the fire before it spread anywhere on the truck carrying produce.

Police were in attendance at the scene to co-ordinate traffic.
