New walkways and pens will be added to the cattle pavilion at the Shepparton Saleyards.
Greater Shepparton City Council’s infrastructure director Steve Bowmaker said these works would increase the capacity of the saleyards and allow for a greater number of cattle to be sold through the facility.
‘‘The upgrades to the cattle yards will see the Shepparton saleyards remain a first-class facility, drawing sales from as far away as Gippsland, Southern NSW and Western regions of Victoria,’’ Mr Bowmaker said.
Works on buyers’ and auctioneers’ walkways, selling pens and gates, holding pens loading ramp accesses and forcing yards were due to begin this month.
Council expects the works to be completed with minimal disruption to normal saleyards operations.
